Well we road in our first rickshaw today. It was crazy! A rickshaw used to be a two person cart pulled by a guy (either on foot or on a bike), but now they have motors in them and are called auto rickshaws (or autos). Anyway, traffic is even crazier when your up clse and peronal, just inches from other various vehicals swerving in and out of the dense traffic. Sunell arrived yesterday (It’s been great to visit with him!) so this morning the four of us took a rickshaw to the train station to buy tickets for sara ben and myself for Dharamsala later this week (sunell will have to leave before then). We were warned about people trying to lead us astray at the train station, but even knowing that it was hard to get where we needed to go (the people’s stories were so convincing!). But we were able to get our tickets (leaving friday night)! Dharamsala is a small town in the Himalayas (where the dali lama lives) where we will be spending most of the rest of our trip. we then walked to the brand new subway system to take a short ride to a part of town with lots of restaurants…ate at a nice chinese place and then headed to the zoo (or “bird park”) where sara got to see some (lathargic) tigers (aka “kitties”). Getting a rickshaw back to the house was a bit trickier this time, but we got back OK:-) Tonight we go to a temple with a web designer Ben has been hiring out here in delhi and then later out to eat. Tomorrow we have a long day, taking a taxi down to agra (4 hour drive) to see the taj mahal (yes, I’m going to be a “tourist”:-) and other things. Whew! And now a word from sara…actually she says that she has been reading as I type, agrees with the content saying “maybe next time”. (I’m not sure she is really into the whole blogging thing…sorry chris and joe.). Well, talk to ya guys later!
